Business Need - Manage People and Performance

Your employees aren't working at the high end of their potential. Their managers know it, and while they won't admit this in performance reviews, even the employees know it.

In surveys we've conducted in client organizations, most employees readily admit that they have more to give. What's more, they want to perform at a high level. So why don't they? Because in practice, most managers don't know how to tap into the performance reserves of their people.

Converting potential into performance isn't easy: managers need to look beyond current results to deeply understand their employees' frames of reference—their strengths, their capabilities, their aspirations. They have to help their people see the possibilities in themselves. They have to accept occasional failures as people push beyond what they thought possible and turn those failures into learning experiences. And mostly, employees need to know that their managers stand with them and for them, helping them get to the next level of performance and development.
