The Craft of Training®

The Craft of Training® is the ultimate train-the-trainer course. It's the result of our own experience creating world-class facilitators for the past 30 years. It offers new trainers a fast, powerful ascent up the learning curve of training.

And it's valuable for seasoned trainers as well. It offers them an opportunity to:

  • Fill in missing pieces in the patchwork quilt of their training knowledge

  • Grow and develop their core training skills with the feedback from their peers, our master trainers, and from video analysis

  • Reduce participant resistance and manage it when it erupts

  • Learn the secret to creating magic in the training room.

Participants in The Craft of Training® practice and get feedback in three performance-critical areas.

PLATFORM SKILLS
to teach key principles clearly and quickly:

  • Organizing and delivering presentations to teach content crisply

  • Dramatizing your message with effective body language

  • Preparing and presenting visual aids that drive home your key points

FACILITATION SKILLS
to capture participants' attention and keep involvement and engagement high:

  • Making presentations interactive in a way that draws on people's expertise in a nonthreatening way

  • Listening skills to honor the questions and concerns people voice during a training

  • Leading demonstrations, skill practices, and activities to foster maximum skill development and application

  • Coaching and giving feedback to refine participants' skills

PROCESS SKILLS
for turning resistance into an opening for learning:

  • Responding to questions with poise and persuasiveness

  • Debriefing to harvest learnings, forge applications, and demonstrate acceptance

  • Preventing resistance to create a positive climate for learning

  • Managing resistance in a way that empowers participants and you to make the most of the training opportunity

Once you've taken The Craft, you'll have the skills to make every workshop a high-value experience—for your participants and for yourself.
