Extended Learning
Ridge's Extended Learning program includes a series of e-mail messages to help Ridge workshop participants reinforce the skills they've learned.
Each message includes a task or reminder to help participants identify opportunities in their day to:
- increase their awareness about communication with others
- apply skills they learned on the job (and/or at home)
- improve their skill-use through continued practice.
Research has shown that it takes four to six weeks for new habits to replace old ones. With Extended Learning participants can spend those coming weeks exploring elements of the course that will benefit them directly, and work on integrating the new skills into their personal work style.
These e-mails may be as simple as a reminder to follow up on an agreement, or to listen during a meeting. In all cases, these are tasks that participants will be able to accomplish as they move through their day, improving their skills and effectiveness as they do.
