People Skills for Managers

To be successful, managers need to get results with and through other people. That's easier said than done. Most managers become managers because of their technical skills, not their people skills. Not having the skills to deal with problem performance, managers often compound the problem by ignoring it or handling it poorly.

LEARNING GOALS

People Skills for Managers, our flagship offering, is designed to help managers meet this challenge by training them be more successful in the people parts of their jobs. In this two day session managers learn how to

  • Listen in ways that enhance employee commitment and trust
  • Gain clear performance agreements so that employees know exactly how to succeed and are committed to doing so
  • Identify and remove obstacles to employee performance in ways that develop that person and don't add to the manager's workload
  • Offer feedback so that their employees appreciate it, are motivated to act on it, and most importantly, improve.
  • recognize people for following through on agreements and get them back on track when they don't.
